Microsoft and Asus have opened preorders for the ROG Xbox Ally and ROG Xbox Ally X handheld gaming devices. The units, priced at $599 and $999 respectively in the United States, are scheduled to begin shipping to customers on October 16th.

International pricing tiers have been established for both models. The standard Ally is priced at $799 CAD in Canada, €599 in Europe, £499 in the UK, and $799 AUD in Australia. The higher-specification Ally X is listed at $1,299 CAD, €899, £799, and $1,599 AUD in those same regions. In the U.S., distribution for the Ally X is exclusive to Best Buy, the Asus Shop, and Microsoft. The standard Ally will have a wider retail presence, available through Amazon, Best Buy, Walmart, Microsoft, the Asus Shop, and Ant Online.

The two devices are differentiated by their internal processors and performance targets. The $999 Ally X contains an 8-core Zen 5 CPU and a 16-core RDNA 3.5 GPU, operating with a thermal design power (TDP) between 15 and 35 watts. In contrast, the $599 Ally is built with a new Ryzen Z2 A processor, which features 4 Zen 2 CPU cores and 8 RDNA 2 GPU cores. This chip has a lower TDP range of 6 to 20 watts and is designed for lower-performance gaming.
