Tesla has launched the Model Y Long Wheelbase in the US and Puerto Rico and is now accepting orders for the variant, nearly one year after its initial release in China. The Model Y Long Wheelbase features a three-row, six-seat configuration with heated seats and touchscreen displays in both the first and second rows.
This variant includes a six-inch wheelbase extension compared to other Model Ys available in the US. According to Tesla, the trunk capacity remains substantial, accommodating a 28-inch suitcase and a 20-inch suitcase simultaneously. Additionally, the frunk can fit an extra 20-inch suitcase.
The vehicle’s second and third rows offer a one-touch folding feature. The second row includes powered armrests, while the third row features power recline. Side airbags, optimized for both rows, provide enhanced passenger safety. The seats are also equipped with either 50W charging pads or charging ports.
The Model Y Long Wheelbase has an estimated range of 325 miles, which is two miles shorter than the Premium non-Long Wheelbase version. Its acceleration from zero to 60 mph is achieved in 4.4 seconds. Buyers will receive free access to Supervised Full Self Driving for the first 12 months, after which the feature will incur a cost of $99 per month. Additionally, customers will receive 12 months of complimentary Supercharging.
The base price for the Model Y Long Wheelbase is set at $61,990, which is approximately $22,000 more than the most basic Model Y and $12,000 above the non-Long Wheelbase Premium variant. Tesla plans to begin deliveries between September and October of this year.
