NVIDIA has introduced DLSS 4.5 features, designed to enhance frame rates on RTX 50 series GPUs. The updates include Dynamic Multi Frame Generation and Multi Frame Generation 6X.
The new capabilities aim to optimize gaming experiences by significantly improving refresh rates, allowing for high-refresh 4K 240Hz OLED gameplay and enhanced performance for 1080p and 1440p monitors. The technology is expected to cater to gamers seeking smoother visuals and more responsive gameplay.
DLSS 4.5 Dynamic Multi Frame Generation automatically adjusts frame rates, balancing refresh rate, image quality, and responsiveness based on real-time demands. This prevents frame rates from exceeding a monitor’s native refresh rate, thus maintaining optimal performance.
Multi Frame Generation 6X offers a maximum multiplier of 6X, generating up to five additional frames for every natively rendered frame on RTX 50 series GPUs. NVIDIA indicated that this technology can improve 4K frame rates by up to 35% while maintaining low impact on responsiveness.
These features function by creating interpolated frames rather than accelerating the native frame rate, which can lead to artifacts in specific scenes, particularly those with intricate details like rain, hair, and phone wires. Nonetheless, they enhance overall gaming fluidity while slightly increasing the GPU load.
DLSS 4.5 is accessible on NVIDIA RTX 50 series cards, with several games supporting the new features. Titles such as 007 First Light, set to release on May 27, CONTROL Resonant, Directive 8020 on May 12, and Tides of Annihilation have integrated the technology.
