Google has begun rolling out its agentic AI assistant, Gemini Spark, to the Gemini app for macOS. The assistant is exclusively available to Google AI Ultra subscribers in the United States.
Launched at Google’s I/O developer conference in May, Gemini Spark transforms Gemini into an “active partner” capable of performing tasks for users. On Mac computers, users can instruct the assistant to sort PDFs in their Downloads folder into designated folders.
Gemini Spark can also interact with Workspace apps and create spreadsheets using files saved on the user’s computer. Future updates will enable the assistant to execute commands from the user’s phone to run tasks on their computer.
For example, users can ask Spark to locate specific files on their laptop and email them when they are away from the device. However, users must trust Gemini with their information. The assistant will only access files that users permit it to use.
Additionally, users can connect Gemini Spark with Google Tasks and Keep for enhanced data access. Future integration with third-party applications including Canva, Dropbox, Instacart, OpenTable, and Zillow Rental is expected within the coming weeks.
Currently, Gemini Spark for macOS is in beta testing and is accessible only to users aged 18 and older who pay $100 a month for Google AI Ultra.
