Discord is now available as a native app on Meta Quest headsets, significantly enhancing the user experience for those seeking to use the social network in virtual reality. This follows an announcement at last year’s Meta Connect conference regarding the development of a dedicated app.
The wait for the native app has been lengthy, as users have resorted to workarounds to access Discord on their VR headsets. The native version improves functionality compared to sideloading or other makeshift solutions.
The Meta Quest app includes all core features of Discord, such as access to servers, direct messages, and voice calls. It also incorporates enhanced capabilities, like utilizing the VR headset’s built-in microphone for calls.
Notably, the app allows users to pin the Discord interface within their VR play space while gaming. Furthermore, users can stream gameplay directly to Discord from the Meta Quest and join calls using their Meta avatar.
