WhatsApp is testing a new feature called notification bubbles for its Android users, allowing for quick message interactions without fully opening the app.
The feature, supported on Android since version 10, will display a floating bubble on the screen when a user receives messages from individual or group chats. This development, uncovered by WABetaInfo, is aimed at enhancing multitasking capabilities for users engaged in various tasks on their devices.
The notification bubble will showcase the profile picture of the WhatsApp contact or group along with a small WhatsApp icon. When users tap the bubble, a compact version of the chat interface will open, allowing them to read and respond to messages instantly.
This functionality is expected to facilitate seamless communication. For instance, users can engage in chats while watching a video without needing to switch applications. Notification bubbles would thus streamline messaging interactions, particularly for users managing multiple chats simultaneously.
WhatsApp has not yet disclosed a timeline for the public release of the notification bubbles feature. The rollout is anticipated to begin with beta users before the feature becomes available to the broader Android user base.
