Do you have an idea for a digital innovation in travel? Can you code a working mobile or web application in 24 hours that helps travelers discover, enhance or share their journey?

Does your original idea have the “wow factor” to win a share of Euro 3,000 in cash prizes … or potentially grow into a stand-alone business?

Then you – and your developer team of up to five hackers – have the chance to disrupt travel at THack @ ITB Berlin, a weekend hackathon February 28 and March 1.

THack is presented by Tnooz, the leading source of global news and analysis about travel tech. Our partners at ITB Berlin produce the world’s largest trade show held annually in March.

THack @ ITB brings together more than 100 developers and leading travel and travel tech companies for a creative competition that seeks solutions to these four travel challenges:

  • Inspiration, discovery, memories – Create an application that helps travelers decide where to go and how to share their experiences and journeys
  • Local concierge – Make a product that explores options for tours, activities and services in-destination
  • Accommodation finder – Hotel? Hostel? Back-country camping? Home-sharing? Build a recommendation engine for personalized accommodations
  • Route planner – Create an travel application for transportation choices that are time-efficient, cost-effective or creatively scenic … or all of the above.

Tnooz’s Tier 1 sponsoring companies (including Lufthansa, GetYourGuide and others to be announced) will provide access to their proprietary APIs to use in programing solutions to the four challenges.

Sponsors will open their APIs to registered developers approximately one week before the event, plus provide on-site or online support for their APIs.

In addition to the cash prizes for winning hacks, a developer or team will be selected to attend a one-week mentoring camp at 33entrepreneurs start-up accelerator in Bordeaux, France.

More details here.

Sponsorship opportunities available.
