Bluesky has rolled out a drafts feature, enabling users to save and edit posts later. Users access drafts by opening the new post flow and tapping the Drafts button in the top-right corner. The addition addresses a long-standing user request and matches baseline capabilities on competitors X and Threads.
This rollout coincides with Bluesky’s announcement of its 2024 roadmap. The company outlined plans to enhance the algorithmic Discover feed by refining content presentation to users. Improvements will also target follow recommendations, providing more precise suggestions for accounts to follow based on user interests and activity.
v1.116 is rolling out now!For all the overthinkers and perfectionists out there, we're launching Drafts.
Bluesky aims to create a more real-time user experience through targeted updates. These efforts include optimizations that reduce latency in post visibility and interactions across the platform. The roadmap lists these priorities alongside other enhancements to core app functions.
The company stated it must solidify basic features before pursuing broader expansions. Drafts represent one such foundational addition. Bluesky still trails rivals in areas including private accounts, which allow users to restrict visibility of their posts, and support for longer videos beyond current limits.
Bluesky launched publicly in early 2024. Data from the Bluesky API for developers shows the platform has reached over 42 million users. This growth reflects adoption since the public release amid competition in the social networking space.
