Airbnb is expanding its services to include hotel bookings, set to launch in summer 2023. The company plans to feature thousands of boutique and independent hotels in major cities including New York, Paris, London, Madrid, Rome, and Singapore.
Airbnb claims its hotel offerings will provide “hotels that feel like Airbnb,” along with a price-match guarantee if a lower rate is found elsewhere. Guests reserving these featured hotels can earn up to 15 percent in credit for future bookings.
Additionally, Airbnb will introduce in-app grocery delivery in 25 U.S. cities through a partnership with Instacart. Guests can schedule these deliveries for their arrival or during their stay, with free delivery included for Airbnb users. A $10 discount will be available on grocery orders of $50 or more.
As part of its expansion, Airbnb will also offer airport pickups in partnership with Welcome Pickups. This service, which tracks flight arrivals, will be available in 160 cities worldwide. Guests booking through Airbnb will receive a 20 percent discount on rides.
Airbnb has partnered with luggage storage company Bounce, enabling users to find nearby drop-off locations directly in the app. Guests will receive a 20 percent credit back towards their next booking when utilizing Bounce for luggage storage.
Car rentals will also be added to Airbnb’s platform in summer 2023, displaying nearby vehicles based on user listings. Guests can earn 20 percent credit back on their first car rental booked through the app.
Moreover, Airbnb will enhance its experience offerings by adding thousands of new options this summer. These will include activities at iconic landmarks like the Tokyo Skytree and Taj Mahal, along with expanded food culture experiences. The company will also provide special FIFA World Cup experiences across six host cities, which will include events hosted by past champions.
