God of War Laufey will be released on PlayStation 5 on Feb. 16, 2024, according to an announcement made during a San Diego Comic-Con panel and on PlayStation’s social media accounts.
The next major installment in the franchise centers on Laufey, also known as Faye, the wife of Kratos, and follows her journey through the afterlife of the gods after her death in God of War Ragnarok.

The game shifts the series away from its usual lead character, with players taking control of Laufey instead of Kratos. The source material said players will see her combat abilities, which previous games had only hinted at.
A gameplay preview released about a month before the date announcement showed Laufey fighting in the air, striking enemies with bladed attacks and using magical abilities against gods and other creatures not previously seen in the franchise, the source material said.
God of War Laufey is currently available to wishlist only, according to the source material.
Santa Monica Studio also confirmed during San Diego Comic-Con that another Kratos-led God of War game will follow God of War Laufey, IGN reported.
