Firefox 151 has introduced new AI controls for mobile devices, coinciding with Google’s unveiling of multiple AI features at its I/O event. The update, available for both iOS and Android systems, allows users to toggle a binary setting to disable all generative AI features across the browser.
Additionally, users are provided with options to selectively enable or disable specific AI functionalities. Mozilla has integrated several AI capabilities in the latest release, including translations and voice search.
The ability to opt-out of all AI features represents a distinction for Mozilla, as this level of user control is not commonly found among other major tech companies, such as Google. Mozilla’s AI controls were previously implemented for the desktop version of Firefox in February.
Mozilla is also participating in Anthropic’s Project Glasswing, providing insights into the dual role of AI in cybersecurity, encompassing both challenges and potential solutions.
