Instagram has confirmed a bug that caused color photo posts, specifically HDR images, to appear in black and white for some users.
The issue began to affect a subset of accounts, with user complaints noted on April 18 and 19. Instagram stated the problem resulted from a technical issue within the app.
The Instagram team has since corrected the bug. Users whose posts continue to display in black and white can expect the fix to automatically restore the affected photos to their original color within a few hours.
“We apologize for any inconvenience,” Instagram said regarding the disruption caused by the issue.
