The latest WhatsApp beta build on TestFlight has introduced a native CarPlay app, enhancing the app’s functionality beyond its existing voice-driven interface. This feature is expected to be available to users in the coming weeks.
The current WhatsApp CarPlay integration is limited, primarily relying on Siri for composing messages and making calls. Users have expressed a need for additional functionality, prompting Meta to develop a more comprehensive experience that allows browsing recent chats and accessing contact details without voice commands.
According to WABetaInfo, users will see a dedicated chat list screen upon opening WhatsApp from the CarPlay system launcher. This interface will display recent conversations from the past 20 to 25 days, though users cannot read entire chat histories while driving to ensure safety.
The new CarPlay experience is currently available to a limited group of users testing through TestFlight. Key features include a contact info interface for viewing profile details, a call history interface for recent calls, and a dedicated tab for favorite contacts.
No official public release date has been announced, nor is there information regarding potential changes to the features before the launch. Users are encouraged to monitor further updates on CarPlay support in the WhatsApp beta.
