Electronic Arts eliminated positions across its Battlefield development studios to “better align” teams, the company confirmed. IGN first reported the layoffs, which EA described as a “realignment” affecting multiple offices while all studios remain operational. The cuts impact DICE, Criterion, Ripple Effect, and Motive Studios.
The layoffs follow the October release of Battlefield 6, which sold more than seven million copies in its first three days. EA called the title the “best-selling shooter title of 2025” in its Q3 FY26 report. The company reported net revenue of more than $1.9 billion for the quarter.
An EA spokesperson stated the changes affect the Battlefield organization to align teams around community priorities. The spokesperson added that Battlefield remains a “biggest priority” and that the company continues to invest in the franchise. Investment is guided by player feedback and insights from Battlefield Labs.
IGN reported that the layoffs will affect multiple offices but all involved studios will remain operational. The move may surprise staff given the recent sales performance of the latest title. EA did not disclose the number of employees affected.
Full Circle, the EA-owned developer of skate., announced layoffs and restructuring in February. Ubisoft planned to cut up to 200 jobs in its Paris office earlier this year. Microsoft announced it would cut thousands of jobs, including within its Gaming division, in July.
