In 2025, Apple accelerated its shift to India due to uncertainty in China caused by evolving U.S. tariff regulations. President Donald Trump personally warned Cook against expanding further in India at a business summit in Doha in May, according to the report. India shipped 14 million iPhones last year, a 9% year-over-year increase, according to Counterpoint. Total iPhone sales in India surpassed $9 billion in 2024, Bloomberg reported. Apple is reportedly in talks to launch Apple Pay in India in 2025.
