Samsung Display is constructing a dedicated production line for foldable OLED panels at its A3 plant in Asan, South Chungcheong Province, intended for Apple’s rumored foldable iPhone.

Previously, reports indicated a foldable iPhone was undergoing prototype testing with a tentative launch in September 2026. Samsung is anticipated to serve as the sole display supplier for this device. Apple was reportedly impressed by Samsung’s display technology, specifically its nearly crease-less design, which will be incorporated into the iPhone Fold’s 7.8-inch main display. This advanced display characteristic was a key factor in Apple’s selection of Samsung as a supplier.

The new report from ET News states that Samsung estimates a monthly production capacity of up to 35,000 foldable display units. This translates to an annual production capability of 15 million units. This volume is projected to exceed the demand from Apple, which is expected to sell between 6 and 8 million units of its foldable iPhone annually.

The device is also anticipated to feature a 5.5-inch cover screen, an under-display camera, and a side-mounted Touch ID sensor. The folded device will measure approximately 9mm in thickness and incorporate a liquid metal hinge. Early price estimates range from $2,100 to $2,300, positioning it above the recently launched Samsung Galaxy Z Fold7.
