Is Apple Intelligence only on iPhone 16? This new feature from Apple is turning heads, but it’s not just limited to the latest iPhone models. Whether you have the newest iPhone or a slightly older one, you might still enjoy what Apple Intelligence offers. But has some twists to use it!

Is Apple Intelligence only on iPhone 16 series? Will Apple Intelligence work on iPhone 15?

Apple Intelligence is indeed an exciting development, but it’s not exclusive to just the iPhone 16. While the iPhone 16 series will be among the first to experience its capabilities, Apple Intelligence will also be available on a range of other Apple devices. Here’s a closer look at its compatibility and the broader scope of its rollout:

  • iPhone 16 series: The iPhone 16, iPhone 16 Plus, iPhone 16 Pro Max, and iPhone 16 Pro, all powered by Apple’s latest A18 and A18 Pro chips, will support Apple Intelligence. This ensures that users with these models can access the new feature from the start.
  • iPhone 15 Series: In addition to the iPhone 16 models, Apple Intelligence will also be available on the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max, which are equipped with the A17 Pro chip. This inclusion highlights Apple’s commitment to extending new features to its recent high-end devices.
  • iPad models: Apple Intelligence will be compatible with iPads that feature the M1 chip and later versions. This includes:
    • iPad Pro
    • iPad Air
  • Mac computers: Apple’s Mac lineup will also see support for Apple Intelligence. The compatibility extends to:
    • MacBook Air and MacBook Pro with the M1 chip and later
    • iMac, Mac mini, and Mac Studio with the M1 chip and later
    • Mac Pro with the M2 Ultra chip

Apple Intelligence will be accessible on devices with recent chipsets (A17 Pro, A18, M1, and M2 Ultra), reflecting Apple’s strategy to enhance its entire ecosystem.

Beta availability

Apple Intelligence will initially be available in beta form, meaning it’s in a testing phase and might have some limitations or bugs. This beta version will be accessible through updates to iOS 18, iPadOS 18, and macOS Sequoia this fall.

While the initial release focuses on English (U.S.), Apple plans to expand Apple Intelligence’s features, languages, and supported platforms over the coming year. This means that more users will have access to Apple Intelligence as it evolves. However, there is an Apple Intelligence EU workaround you might want to look out for!

Apple Intelligence & iPhone 16 AI features

Apple Intelligence, introduced at the “It’s Glowtime” event, brings advanced AI features to iPhones, iPads, and Macs with a strong emphasis on privacy and user control. Key features include:

  1. Writing tools: Enhance communication with AI-powered assistance for summarizing, rewriting, and finding the right words across various apps.
  2. Smart reply: In Mail, AI suggests quick, accurate responses and summarizes lengthy emails.
  3. Reduce interruptions: Prioritizes important notifications, filtering out less relevant ones.
  4. Image playground and Genmoji: Allows users to create personalized images from descriptions or existing photos.
  5. Image wand: Transforms rough sketches into polished visuals in the Notes app.
  6. Clean up: Removes distracting background elements from photos.
  7. Enhanced Siri: More contextually aware, integrates better with system tasks, and processes user data privately.
