Tata Consultancy Services (TSC) announced earlier this week a new partnership with MapR to help enterprise customers leverage big data to capture “critical insights.”

The partnership will see both company’s develop turn-key big data and business intelligence solutions – through MapR’s Hadoop distribution — and offer TSC’s clients services and products like recommendation engines, supply chain optimization and pricing analytics. The partnership’s new big data offerings will shift the IT cost curve and allow companies to strategically reimagine their business models, TSC said in a statement.

“MapR is excited to partner with TCS to help customers overcome market uncertainty and tackle big data challenges and opportunities,” said Jon Posnik, vice president of business development, MapR Technologies.

“This partnership brings TCS’ vast big data experience and industry domain knowledge together with our industry-leading, enterprise-grade Hadoop platform. This will be a big win for our joint customers.”

TSC also pointed out that the announcement comes at a time of rapid growth for the big data market, with Gartner predicting the market size of Business Intelligence/Performance Management and Analytics to reach $96 billion by 2016, where Big Data IT services are estimated to be almost half of that figure at $43.7 billion.
