Samsung has launched Ocean Mode for the Galaxy S25 Ultra as part of the Expert RAW update within the One UI 8.5 beta.
This feature enhances underwater photography and was initially introduced for the Galaxy S24 Ultra in early 2025 to assist oceanographers with coral reef restoration. Ocean Mode was briefly exclusive and later made available for the Galaxy S26 Ultra before reaching S25 Ultra users.
The Expert RAW update, version 5.0.08.2 (discovered by SamMobile), now provides Ocean Mode functionality for Galaxy S25 Ultra devices. This mode includes features such as automatic color correction, motion blur reduction, and an interval shooting option allowing users to capture continuous shots at intervals of 2, 5, or 10 seconds.
While Ocean Mode targets underwater photography, users should be aware of the device’s IP68 rating. This rating indicates protection against dust and immersion in freshwater but not against saltwater, which could damage the device’s seals.
The introduction of Ocean Mode to the Galaxy S25 Ultra reflects Samsung’s ongoing commitment to enhancing mobile photography, particularly in specialized environments. The company aims to provide tools that cater to both professional and amateur photographers alike.
