Galaxy S25 FE gets One UI 8 before other S25 models

Samsung kicks off One UI 8 updates—S25 FE goes first.

The Galaxy S25 series has officially begun its transition to One UI 8, based on Android 16, with the Galaxy S25 FE being the first device to receive the update. This rollout distinguishes itself as the rest of the S25 lineup awaits the broader deployment scheduled for later this month.

Samsung has initiated the One UI 8 update with the Galaxy S25 FE, its latest mid-range Fan Edition phone. This strategic decision explains the delayed update for existing Galaxy S25 series owners. The company appears to have prioritized showcasing the new software on the S25 FE at its launch. A notable contrast exists with the previous year’s approach. The Galaxy S24 FE was released with One UI 6.1.1, which was the same version featured on other Galaxy S24 models at that time.

Galaxy S25, S25 Plus, and S25 Ultra users can anticipate the arrival of the One UI 8 update in September, as confirmed by Samsung. These flagship models will be prioritized in the upcoming software distribution. Prior to the One UI 8 update, a significant monthly security update is expected for the Galaxy S25 series. The update may exceed 1 GB in size, requiring users to ensure adequate device preparation.

Beyond the S25 series, the One UI 8 update may extend to additional devices. The Galaxy Z Fold 6, Galaxy Z Flip 6, and the Galaxy S24 series are also potential candidates for the stable One UI 8 update as it becomes more widely available later in September.
