Samsung is nearing an investment in AI search startup Perplexity and may integrate the AI company’s technology into its devices, according to a Bloomberg report citing unnamed sources.
As a major investor in Perplexity’s new fundraising round, Samsung is considering pre-installing Perplexity’s app and assistant on its phones. Integration of Perplexity’s search functionalities into Samsung’s default browser is also under discussion, according to the report.
The companies are also exploring the possibility of Perplexity’s AI technology powering some features of Samsung’s Bixby assistant, Bloomberg reported. The partnership could be announced later this year.

Bloomberg reported in May that Perplexity is in the process of raising $500 million at a $4 billion valuation.
Apple has also considered adding Perplexity as a search engine option to Safari, according to a previous Bloomberg report. In April, Motorola announced a partnership with Perplexity to power AI features.
