A recent post on X offers a detailed look at the upcoming PlayStation 5 Pro leaks and its considerable upgrades over the original PS5, positioning the Pro as an attractive option for high-performance gaming.

Set to release on November 7, 2024, the PS5 Pro is not just a minor update but a full-fledged performance leap, boasting upgraded processing, graphics, and storage capacity.

What was revealed in PS5 Pro leak?

According to details shared by an insider on X (formerly Twitter), the PS5 Pro boasts the following specs:

1. CPU and GPU upgrades

While the original PS5 uses an AMD Zen 2 processor, the PS5 Pro is equipped with an AMD Ryzen Zen 2 processor with 8 cores and 16 threads and a powerful RDNA GPU offering 16.7 TFLOPS of processing power. This improvement brings the PS5 Pro closer to NVIDIA’s RTX 4060 at 22 TFLOPS, which marks a sizable jump in graphical performance.

This power increase translates to 45% faster graphics rendering and 2 to 3 times the ray-tracing performance of the original PS5, a substantial boost for gamers who appreciate highly detailed visuals and smoother gameplay.

2. Memory and storage enhancements

The PS5 Pro ups its game in memory with 16 GB of GDDR6 RAM (compared to the original PS5’s 16 GB GDDR6 RAM for graphics only), adding 2 GB of DDR5 for system tasks and a generous 2TB SSD. This upgraded storage provides double the space of the standard PS5’s 1TB, accommodating a larger number of high-demand games and improving load times.

Equipped with an upgraded RDNA GPU at 16.7 TFLOPS, the PS5 Pro delivers substantially more graphical power than the standard PS5’s 10.28 TFLOPS

3. Power supply and connectivity improvements

To support these upgrades, the Pro’s power supply has been increased to 390W from the original PS5’s 350W. The console also replaces one USB-A port with a USB-C port for more versatile connectivity and introduces WiFi 7 capability, enhancing internet speed and stability, particularly valuable for streaming and online multiplayer games.

4. Enhanced visual quality with PSSR

As Okami outlined in an X post, Sony has introduced a new feature called PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution (PSSR), designed to enhance the resolution and quality of visuals in supported games. This new technology aims to make the most of the upgraded hardware, allowing the PS5 Pro to deliver crisper, more immersive visuals compared to the original PS5, especially in high-resolution, high-fidelity gaming.

So how does Sony’s new console compare to its older generation? Well, let us summarize!

With these improvements, the PS5 Pro caters to players who prioritize visual fidelity and speed, offering more advanced hardware than the original PS5 for an enhanced gaming experience.
