OpenAI has launched personal finance features for ChatGPT Plus customers in the U.S., transitioning them from the previous $100/month Pro plan to the $20/month Plus version. The rollout allows users to connect their financial accounts to ChatGPT, enabling them to ask financial questions based on their personal data.
The new personal finance experience is available for some subscribers beginning June 30, 2026. OpenAI stated, “Now you can securely connect your financial accounts, see a dashboard of where your money is going, and ask ChatGPT questions grounded in your financial context – all while staying in control of your data.” OpenAI is initially limiting the feature to gather insights from real-world use and enhance user experience.
Pro subscribers can access the personal finance feature by selecting ‘Finances’ from the ChatGPT sidebar or by initiating a conversation with the command ‘@Finances, connect my accounts’. Users will then complete the connection process securely via Plaid, with future support from Intuit anticipated. Data synchronization and categorization may take a few minutes post-authentication.
The personal finance dashboard will display real-time information on spending, subscriptions, upcoming payments, and portfolio performance. Users can also specify financial goals for ChatGPT to process during interactions. OpenAI has assured users that financial data can be deleted at any moment and provided controls for removing finance information from ChatGPT’s memory, ensuring that private chats will remain separate from personal finance data.
OpenAI has also made a series of updates, including enhancements to GPT-5.5 and new features for Codex across various platforms. The introduction of personal finance tools reflects OpenAI’s ongoing commitment to expand its product offerings while aiming to enhance user experience.
