Google announced that the Gemini app is now providing its personalized Nano Banana-powered image generation feature to a wider audience. Starting today, all eligible users in the U.S. can access the feature for free, which was previously only available to Plus, Pro, and Ultra subscribers.
The integration of Nano Banana-powered image generation into Gemini’s Personal Intelligence feature was first announced in April. This functionality enables users to create images based on Gemini’s understanding of their preferences without specifying them in prompts. Gemini uses data from Google account connections, including Gmail, Google Photos, YouTube, and Search, to tailor image generation.

Users can request images using simple phrases, such as, “Create an illustration of me and my favorite things.” The feature can also incorporate actual images from Google Photos, removing the need for manual uploads.
The Personal Intelligence feature was widely rolled out to U.S. users in March and has since been expanded to users in India and Japan. This opt-in feature allows users to select which apps Gemini can access and is set as the default for prompts, though it can be disabled via a toggle in the Tools menu.
Last month, Google announced future updates for the Gemini app. These updates include a new “Daily Brief” feature, an updated interface, access to the AI video model Gemini Omni, and a personal AI agent named Gemini Spark. Earlier this year, Google’s AI chatbot Gemini surpassed 750 million monthly active users, indicating its significant presence in the AI sector.
