Apple is preparing to launch a new touchscreen MacBook, which will feature M5 Pro and M5 Max chips, according to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman. The upcoming models include 14-inch and 16-inch variants, expected to be released between late 2026 and early 2027.
Gurman noted that Apple may skip the M6 generation of its Pro and Max chips for this launch, instead opting for the high-end M5 chips released earlier this year. The next versions of the touchscreen MacBook are anticipated to utilize M7 chips, which are currently in advanced testing and could be available by the end of 2027.
Key features of the new touchscreen MacBook include the Dynamic Island interface from the iPhone, an OLED screen, and an updated industrial design. The M7 chip is expected to be introduced in early 2027, with the M7 Pro and M7 Max likely to follow a few months later. Gurman also mentioned the potential for an M7 Ultra chip, projected for release in 2028.
