Apple has released the second beta of iOS 27 to developers as part of its preparations for the operating system’s anticipated launch this fall. The beta version expands on features discussed during WWDC 2026, particularly enhancements to Siri.
New features are also present in the beta 2 versions of iOS 27, iPadOS 27, and macOS 27, reflecting Apple’s integrated approach to software development. The feature “Write with Siri” replaces the previous AI-powered Writing Tools prompt on iPhones and iPads. A prominent prompt that states “Write with Siri” appears above the keyboard, shrinking to the Siri icon if users start typing without assistance.
Additional updates to Siri include faster performance and labeling elements in the Expressive Voice preview as “coming soon,” indicating ongoing enhancements. The latest beta also introduces improvements for RCS communications in the Messages app, enhancing synergy and security for text interactions between Apple and non-Apple devices.
The beta now supports message reactions and in-line replies for RCS, continuing the trend of integration. Changes to macOS Golden Gate also include improved iPhone Mirroring, correcting issues identified in beta 1.
An update now allows AirPods Max 2 to refresh their firmware, adding functionality for users. Apple is expected to launch the operating systems officially soon, with additional updates anticipated.
