Threads is launching new parental control features aimed at helping parents and guardians monitor their teenagers’ usage of the platform. The Parental Supervision feature will begin rolling out next week. It provides insights into the amount of time a teen spends on the Threads app.
Parents can set time limits and adjust sleep mode hours through the Parental Supervision feature. The tool also allows guardians to restrict access to certain tags and implement limits on both privacy and content settings. These features are designed to complement existing restrictions placed on all teen accounts on Threads.
Adults will be able to access the Parental Supervision feature as it is introduced in Meta’s Family Center hub next week. Meta has been focusing on child safety across its products for several years, even prior to rebranding as Meta.
Recent initiatives include sharing the topics teens discuss with Meta AI with their guardians and imposing restrictions on repeated exposure to potentially harmful content on Instagram.
