OpenAI has announced the launch of the OpenAI Partner Network, its first formal partner program, supported by a $150 million investment aimed at certifying 300,000 consultants by the end of 2026. The initiative is scheduled to go live in July and is designed to create a global ecosystem of system integrators, AI-focused managed service providers, and consultants for deploying OpenAI technology on a large scale.

The Partner Network includes three tiers: Select, Advanced, and Elite. Progression through these tiers depends on sales performance, technical capability, co-selling engagements, and deployment experience. Partners will also have opportunities to specialize in areas such as Codex, cybersecurity, API, and agent transformation. A pilot program named Forward Deployed Experts will provide Elite partners with on-site training led by OpenAI engineers.

Colleen Kapase, OpenAI’s vice president of global strategic partners and ecosystem, emphasized the large potential for partners, stating, “We have 900 million weekly active users of OpenAI technology — 900 million weekly — that’s amazing. Partners do not want to miss this opportunity.” The $150 million investment will support partner enablement, offset service delivery costs, and provide market development funds.

This launch follows a series of enterprise-focused initiatives by OpenAI, including the introduction of the Frontier enterprise platform earlier this year. Partnerships have also been established with major firms such as Accenture, Boston Consulting Group, Capgemini, and McKinsey. In May, OpenAI launched the OpenAI Deployment Company, a $4 billion professional services venture with backing from 19 investors.

Kapase indicated that OpenAI is prioritizing quality over quantity in its partner recruitment strategy. “We’re not looking for quantity, we’re looking for quality with a high bar, AI-focused, transformational oriented, and able to keep up with the pace of OpenAI,” she stated. The program’s launch coincides with competitor Anthropic’s expansion of its partner ecosystem, which has introduced a Claude Partner Network.
