OpenAI has integrated ChatGPT into Microsoft PowerPoint, allowing users to generate new slides and edit existing ones through AI-driven prompts. The functionality accesses connected services such as Gmail, Outlook, and SharePoint. Currently in beta, most OpenAI users, including those on the free tier and corporate subscribers of ChatGPT Business, can utilize this feature.
This move follows a similar offering from Anthropic, which launched its Claude chatbot’s integration with PowerPoint in September. Google’s Gemini platform also features integration with its Slides product. OpenAI’s decision to introduce ChatGPT in PowerPoint aligns with its efforts to enhance its portfolio ahead of a highly anticipated IPO, responding to competitive pressures by mirroring rival capabilities.
ChatGPT is already embedded in other enterprise applications, including Microsoft Excel and Google Sheets, indicating OpenAI’s strategy to broaden its functionality across multiple platforms.
