Apple Sports has expanded its availability to over 90 new countries and regions as of May 19, 2026, offering its free iPhone app in more than 170 markets globally. The app includes personalized, real-time features related to the FIFA World Cup 2026™, enabling users to follow matches with customized scoreboards based on their favorite national teams.
The app allows fans to explore tournament groupings and set up Live Activities on their iPhone Lock Screen or Apple Watch for real-time match updates. Additional features include widgets for iPhone, iPad, and MacBook Home Screens to track tournament progress. Users can also access live match information via the Apple TV app.
Oliver Schusser, Apple’s vice president of Music, Sports, Apple TV, and Beats, stated, “The World Cup unites fans across the globe, making it the ideal moment to bring Apple Sports to even more users.” He emphasized the app’s design focus on speed and simplicity to keep fans updated on scores and stats.
New functionalities incorporated into the app include a tournament bracket view to track team progress and enhanced game cards showcasing visual formations of starting lineups. The app also provides direct access to Apple News for comprehensive editorial coverage of the tournament.
Apple Sports is available for free download on the App Store. Users need compatible devices running iOS 18 or later and watchOS 11 or later to utilize Live Activities. Some app features may require a subscription, and content availability could vary by region.
Apple News accessibility is limited to users in the U.S., Canada, the UK, and Australia, with potential content restrictions based on location.
