Alexa+ is now available on several Bose products, including the newly announced Lifestyle Ultra Speaker and Lifestyle Ultra Soundbar. This integration marks the first official use of Amazon’s upgraded smart assistant in devices that are not manufactured by Amazon.
The Lifestyle Ultra line is set to launch on May 15, with preorders currently open. Alexa+ is also accessible on existing Bose models, such as the Smart Ultra Soundbar, Home Speaker, and Portable Smart Speaker.
Alexa+ features enhanced capabilities over previous versions, offering improved understanding of conversational language. According to Amazon, the assistant can potentially perform various tasks, including making restaurant reservations.
With the new Bose integration, Alexa+ can find songs based on contextual prompts. For example, a user may request the assistant to “play that song from that movie where the guy holds up the boombox outside his girlfriend’s house,” effectively prompting the device to play the relevant music.
Amazon has also introduced multiple personality styles for Alexa+, including a “sassy” option known for making humorous remarks. This personality style has been noted for its quirky responses, such as calling a pending notification “more boring than watching paint dry” before delivering crucial weather updates.
