LinkedIn now has a new feature designed to encourage users to verify their information by allowing them to prioritize engagement from verified users. This update is aimed at enhancing the platform’s content authenticity, particularly in posts with high comment volumes.

The new “Verified Members” comment sorting option will be available alongside existing filters such as “Most Relevant” and “Most Recent.” By selecting “Verified Members,” users can view comments exclusively from those with verified profiles, filtering out unverified contributions.

Verification on LinkedIn is free, requiring users to share their government ID through third-party support partners. As of December, over 100 million members have completed the verification process. According to LinkedIn, this feature aims to add a layer of trust and combat spam and bot-generated content.

LinkedIn stated, “This feature is designed to reduce the noise from automated, generic, or inauthentic comments, ensuring that meaningful, human-led discussions stand out in high-volume conversations.” The company seeks to see if this initiative increases user motivation to verify their accounts and, subsequently, engagement in posts.

Despite having 100 million verified members, LinkedIn’s total membership exceeds one billion, indicating significant potential for growth in verification engagement. Improving verification rates and reducing spam could enhance the platform’s data stream value, making it more attractive for artificial intelligence training.
