Spotify has announced a revamped tablet interface for Android tablets and iPads, enhancing the user experience on larger screens. The redesigned app aims to improve listening, watching, and content discovery.

The new interface is specifically built for tablets rather than being a scaled-up version of its mobile counterpart. According to Spotify, the design effectively utilizes the extra screen space, allowing users to browse and discover new content alongside what they are already listening to.

The UI dynamically adjusts when switching between portrait and landscape orientations. This change creates a more balanced experience in both views, which Spotify describes as feeling “balanced and intentional.”

A notable feature in the update is a new sidebar that enables users to browse interactive and scrollable content while listening. This sidebar can be collapsed or expanded according to user preference, enhancing the multitasking capability of the app.

The “Switch to Video” toggle is prominently positioned for easy access, allowing for seamless transitions into a more immersive viewing experience. While the UI has been redesigned, the core navigation remains consistent with the mobile app, featuring a bottom navigation bar for quick access to main pages.

Spotify aims to make this tablet experience feel like “a natural extension of the mobile app,” maintaining familiarity while integrating new functionalities. As users explore the updated interface, they can expect improved engagement with both audio and video content.
