Roblox is launching new agentic features designed to support developers in planning, building, and testing games on its platform. The company’s revamped Roblox Assistant will function as a collaborative partner that helps creators refine their game concepts through an enhanced “Planning Mode.”
Planning Mode aims to address challenges faced by developers who find one-step AI tools insufficient for capturing their original ideas. This feature will analyze game code and data models, ask clarifying questions, and convert user prompts into actionable, editable plans.
Developers can interact with Planning Mode to create detailed game plans and receive feedback before finalizing their approach. For instance, if a developer requests a “park mini game,” the Assistant will inquire about the desired visual style and asset creation methods.
Once a plan is established, Planning Mode will utilize two newly announced AI tools: Mesh Generation and Procedural Model Generation. Mesh Generation allows for the quick integration of fully textured 3D objects into games, replacing the need for low-quality placeholder assets.
Roblox cited examples of Mesh Generation, such as generating a campfire that includes lighting effects and can be placed in various settings. Procedural Model Generation will enable developers to dynamically create editable 3D models through code, adjusting physical attributes like the number of shelves in a bookcase or staircase height.
Nick Tornow, senior vice president of Engineering at Roblox, stated, “The launch of our agentic features in Roblox Studio reduces barriers between creative vision and execution. Creating with Planning Mode and our Procedural Generation tools is a powerful new method for creators to turn their concepts into gameplay.”
As Planning Mode operates, it will employ playtesting tools to analyze output logs, capture screenshots, and check gameplay design, enabling the identification of bugs for automatic corrections. Roblox described this capability as a self-correcting system that improves its accuracy over time.
Furthermore, Roblox is developing technology that will allow multiple AI agents to work in parallel, manage complex workflows in the cloud, and execute tasks related to coding, testing, or character creation. The company intends to ensure seamless integration of third-party tools like Claude, Cursor, and Codex into Roblox Studio.
