The updates aim to boost Gemini’s ability to comprehend user speech and contextual cues. This is significant as it indicates Google’s commitment to refining user interactions through continuous learning as Gemini replaces Assistant.
Google announced that responses for simple queries, such as asking for the time, will be delivered more quickly. Additionally, Gemini is expected to better adapt to individual speech patterns, improving its ability to process longer responses without interruption.
Enhancements in contextual understanding are being implemented, enabling Gemini to recognize which devices to control based on context rather than explicit commands. This includes improvements in managing notes and lists, with a focus on executing complex multi-step commands.
Google addressed previous issues where Gemini was unable to locate existing lists, stating that this has been resolved. Improvements extend to playlist recognition, even when names are misspoken, which should reduce mistakes when playing specific songs or ending music playback.
In the Google Home app, updates include adjustments to the thermostat slider aimed at professional installers and fixes for iOS camera controls. A key feature allows the setting of content filters, screen time limits, and usage rules for supervised accounts and guests within the app.
