GoPro will lay off 23 percent of its global workforce by the end of this year as it seeks to improve its financial outlook in a challenging market. The restructuring will involve cutting 145 employees, with the process starting in the second quarter of 2026, according to a Form 8-K filing from the company.
At the end of the first quarter of 2026, GoPro reported a total of 631 employees. The company anticipates the layoffs will incur costs between $11.5 million and $15 million, which will cover severance pay and healthcare benefits.
In its 2025 financial results, GoPro announced a revenue decline, including a loss of $9 million in the fourth quarter. This follows a previous round of layoffs in the second half of 2024.
Despite these cutbacks, GoPro remains optimistic about its future, aiming to leverage its new AI-centric GP3 processor. The company plans to launch GP3-powered cameras in the coming months, hoping to initiate a “new era of performance and innovation.”
GoPro, which launched its first action camera in the early 2000s, now faces increased competition from DJI, Insta360, and smartphones, which have eroded its market share over the years.
