Google has introduced three new Gemini-powered features for Google TV, enhancing user engagement with real-time sports updates, detailed topic explorations, and narrated content. These updates aim to streamline the viewing experience and provide tailored information to users.
The new capabilities include AI-driven visual responses, which deliver live scorecards and viewing information for sports games, allowing users to easily track events like the NBA and NHL. Users can inquire about various topics, such as health or economics, and receive narrated visual breakdowns through a “deep dive” feature. This interactive function was highlighted at CES 2026, enabling users to delve into subjects by selecting “Dive deeper” in response options or navigating to the Gemini tab.

Gemini also now offers “sports briefs,” allowing fans to stay updated on their favorite leagues without watching every moment live. This feature provides timely narrated overviews, a step following the earlier launch of “news briefs” aimed at delivering the latest headlines.
These updates are currently being rolled out in the U.S. and Canada, with plans to expand into Australia, New Zealand, and the U.K. by spring 2026, further increasing Gemini’s reach and functionality. Initially launched in September 2025 on select TCL televisions, Gemini has since been integrated into more hardware, featuring enhancements like natural language settings adjustments and voice search for Google Photos.
