Google has added a bookmark bar to Chrome for Android foldables and tablets in version 146, which released Thursday.
The update narrows the feature gap between mobile and desktop browsing on larger-screen devices. Users previously accessed bookmarks through a menu, while laptops and desktops have long displayed a persistent bar.
The mobile bookmarks bar appears below the Omnibox, showing favicons and site names. A chevron allows horizontal scrolling through bookmark collections. A long press on any bookmark reveals the full URL, according to 9to5Google, which first reported the change.
The feature ships disabled by default. Devices are set to “Hidden on narrow screens.” Users must navigate to Settings, then Appearance, and select “Show bookmarks bar” to activate it.
The rollout applies specifically to tablets and foldable devices. Standard smartphones retain the previous bookmark menu interface.
Google has progressively expanded Chrome’s tablet functionality in recent years. The browser remains the default option on most Android devices and holds majority market share across operating systems.
