Google has made Canvas in AI Mode available to all U.S. users in English.
The expansion moves the feature beyond Google Labs, allowing more users to organize projects, conduct research, and draft documents or custom tools directly within Google Search.
Canvas can generate study guides from uploaded notes and convert research reports into web pages, quizzes, or audio overviews, Google stated in a blog post.
The feature also enables users to describe an idea, prompting Canvas to generate code for a shareable application or game.

It can refine creative writing drafts and provide project feedback.
Canvas is already available to Google AI Pro and Google AI Ultra subscribers within Gemini, utilizing the Gemini 3 model and a 1 million-token context window.
The integration into Google Search’s AI Mode exposes Canvas to a broader user base in the U.S.
To use Canvas, users select the “Canvas” option from the tool menu within AI Mode and describe their desired creation.
A Canvas side panel opens, allowing information integration from the web and Google’s Knowledge Graph.
Users can test prototypes, view underlying code, and refine app functionality by interacting with Gemini.
Canvas competes with similar tools from OpenAI and Anthropic.
