Apple’s regulatory filing listed the name “MacBook Neo” for a rumored low-cost laptop before it was removed from the website, according to MacRumors.
The accidental posting confirms the moniker for a device expected to launch as soon as tomorrow. The laptop is anticipated to target budget-conscious consumers and Windows switchers by offering a lower price point than Apple’s current notebook lineup. This move signals Apple’s attempt to expand its market share in the entry-level laptop segment.
The MacBook Neo is rumored to be powered by an A-series mobile chip rather than the M-series processors used in current Macs. According to the source, the device will feature an all-metal case with more color options than the existing lineup. The design is described as a revival of the iBook line, though without the handle found on earlier models.
Apple announced the iPhone 17e with MagSafe and the iPad Air M4 yesterday. The company also unveiled the MacBook Air M5 and MacBook Pro M5 Pro/Max systems this morning, which are slightly more expensive than previous models. Additionally, Apple introduced a new 5K MiniLED Studio Display XDR to its monitor lineup.
An upgraded Mac Studio desktop may also be announced alongside the MacBook Neo tomorrow.
