AT&T launched the AmiGO Jr. Phone, a smartphone for children featuring built-in parental controls on Samsung Galaxy A16 hardware. The device became available on AT&T’s website for $3 monthly under a 36-month contract with bill credits.
The AmiGO Jr. Phone uses the Samsung Galaxy A16 base model, equipped with a 50-megapixel main camera, a 6.7-inch display, and reliable battery life. AT&T customized this hardware for young users by integrating specific safety features accessible through the AmiGO app. These include live location tracking to monitor a child’s position in real time, safe zones that alert parents when the child enters or leaves designated areas, and screentime restrictions to limit device usage duration.
Parents manage all controls directly via the AmiGO app, providing oversight without needing third-party software. While parental control smartphones from companies such as Bark and Pinwheel have existed for several years, AT&T’s offering represents the first standalone product from a major mobile carrier with these controls pre-installed.
Pricing requires customers to cover standard AT&T monthly service charges alongside the $3 device payment. This arrangement delivers savings compared to purchasing the Samsung Galaxy A16 outright for $200. The 36-month commitment includes bill credits that offset the cost over time.
AT&T simultaneously released the AmiGO Jr. Watch 2, a companion device that bolsters the kid-focused lineup. This expansion builds on the existing children’s tablet in AT&T’s ecosystem, creating multiple connected options for family safety and management.
