Inception Point AI, a company specializing in AI-generated podcasts, is releasing about 3,000 new episodes every week. The company reports that each episode is created in approximately one hour at a cost of $1.
The AI-driven production model
Since it began operating in September 2023, Inception Point AI has accumulated over 10 million downloads, according to The Hollywood Reporter. The platform features around 50 different AI personalities, including a nature-show host named Nigel Thistledown and a food expert named Claire Delish.
The production time for an AI-generated episode is significantly shorter than for a human-produced podcast.
The company’s business model is designed to be profitable if an episode receives at least 20 listeners.
Company response to criticism
Jeanine Wright, the CEO of Inception Point AI and former head of Amazon’s podcast division, responded to critics who label the content “AI slop.”
People calling it AI slop ‘are probably lazy luddites.’
Wright also predicted that “In the near future half the people on the planet will be AI.”
