Google is reportedly preparing to introduce updated Nest Cam Indoor, Nest Cam Outdoor, and Nest Doorbell devices. All three devices are expected to incorporate 2K HDR resolution, Gemini integration, and local fallback storage. Moreover, the Nest Aware subscription service is anticipated to be rebranded as Google Home Premium, with a new higher-tier option in the works.
The upcoming Nest Cam Indoor (3rd Generation) will be available in Snow, Berry, and Hazel color options. This new iteration will feature up to 6x digital zoom, event previews spanning the previous three hours, and local fallback storage to maintain functionality during Wi-Fi outages. The local storage ensures continuous recording even when the network connection is interrupted.
Mirroring many of the features found in the indoor model, the Nest Cam Outdoor (2nd Generation) will be offered in Snow and Hazel colors. The Hazel variant may be exclusive to the Google Store. Like the Indoor version, this camera will also include 2K HDR resolution and local fallback storage, providing a consistent level of performance and reliability.
The Nest Doorbell (3rd Generation) is slated to receive its first major update since 2021. Mirroring other devices in the lineup, it will transition to 2K HDR resolution and offer new color choices: Snow, Hazel, and Linen. A notable addition is the integration of Gemini-powered Daily Summaries, designed to condense the day’s events into a concise recap, removing the need for manual review of every video clip.
In tandem with the new hardware releases, Google is reportedly revamping its subscription service. The current Nest Aware is expected to be rebranded as Google Home Premium. In addition, a new Advanced tier, known as Google Home Premium Advanced, is planned. Specific pricing details for both tiers have not yet been disclosed. The introduction of a tiered subscription model aims to provide users with more choices tailored to their specific needs and usage patterns.
