Nvidia is reportedly developing an artificial intelligence chip for the Chinese market, aiming for a September launch despite existing U.S. export restrictions. This initiative, reported by the Financial Times, follows ongoing efforts by the semiconductor manufacturer to navigate trade limitations.
The planned AI chip will reportedly derive from Nvidia’s Blackwell RTX Pro 6000 processor, a design already modified to comply with current AI chip export regulations. The Financial Times noted that this chip would specifically omit high-bandwidth memory and NVLink, Nvidia’s proprietary high-speed, low-latency communication interface. Both features are integral components of the company’s more advanced AI chip offerings.
Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang stated last month that the company would no longer incorporate the Chinese market into its revenue and profit forecasts. TechCrunch contacted Nvidia for further details regarding these developments.
