The Accelerated Cure Project (ACP) for Multiple Sclerosis has launched a new website, MSCarePartnerConnection.com, aimed at supporting individuals caring for people with MS. A key feature of the site is the “AI Caregiving Expert,” an AI chatbot designed to provide 24/7 answers to caregivers’ questions.

AI-powered support for MS care partners

The website, developed with support from EMD Serono’s Embracing Carers initiative, offers curated resources and information on various aspects of MS caregiving, including:

  • Fundamental information about MS
  • Guidance on navigating healthcare and insurance systems
  • Advice on dealing with employers
  • Tips for managing finances
  • Strategies for maintaining healthy relationships

The AI Caregiving Expert complements these resources by providing answers to questions not directly covered on the site and offering support when professional advice is unavailable. The chatbot was developed and customized by Jon Strum, host of the RealTalk MS podcast and co-leader of the Care Partner Advisory Board, using Open AI’s ChatGPT.

The organization emphasizes that the AI tool is not intended to replace professional advice but rather to provide readily available support and suggest options that users can discuss with their counselors or advisors. It is seen as particularly valuable for individuals who lack access to local or affordable MS experts, emotional support, or financial advisors, and for caregivers needing immediate answers outside of typical business hours. The tool is built to improve answers the more specific the questions are.
