One of the most widely used operating systems in the world, Android powers billions of devices, including smart TVs and smartphones. Google has recently announced new Android features, and some of them will be highly beneficial to users, making their lives easier as they will be able to access many features easily.

With every new release, Android expands and gets better, introducing new features and updates. The new Android features not only add new measures to smartphones and tablets but also to smartwatches. Google showed that it was to improve WearOS and make it more popular among users by adding new features.

New Android features to take us by surprise

According to Google’s press release and blog post, there are several new Android features that almost all users will be happy with. The new alternatives include Spotify on your wrist, Nearby Share for Windows, new emoji kitchen options, Android phones, tablets, and even wearables. Let’s cut to the chase and look at the new Android features one by one!

Reading practice

Reading Practice is one of the new Android features that aim to help parents improve their child’s spent time on their Android devices. With access to hundreds of kid-friendly ebooks, some of which are free, reading practice on Android phones and tablets helps beginning readers develop their vocabulary and comprehension skills.

This way, children will spend more quality time rather than playing games all the time. Parents will be able to teach their kids vocabulary and use technology to help them improve their kids’ comprehension skills.

Nearby Share – Windows

Nearby Share has been enabled for Windows devices, and from now on, it will be easier to share files between Windows PCs and Android devices. Apple’s Airdrop has been supporting both iPhones, iPads, and Macs for a while now, and Google has partnered with Microsoft to bring easy file sharing between their devices.

Although this feature is still in beta, you can also use it now. On 64-bit versions of Windows 10 and newer, Nearby Share can be used to transfer files across nearby devices.

Emoji Kitchen

You may transform your favorite emoji into stickers with Emoji Kitchen, which you can then share via Gboard as messages. New aquatic-themed emoji combinations are now available, which will keep you cool this summer. Google specifically outlined shark and whale emojis in the blog post.

New widgets

Three new Android widgets are now available, allowing you to keep adding more practical shortcuts to your phone or tablet’s home screen customizations. Enjoy daily headlines curated from Google News, track selected stocks with Google Finance, and quickly locate personalized movie and TV program ideas with Google TV.

With the new Android features, you will be up-to-date all the time as you will see these three widgets on your home screen. Whether you want to check stock prices, the important news of the day, or a film suggestion that you might want to watch later, all of these will be provided with the new widgets.

Matter-enabled smart devices are even easier to set up

It’s simpler than ever to set up Matter, the new cross-platform standard for smart devices, on Android. These new gadgets may be immediately integrated into your smart home system by scanning the QR code on them with the Google Home app. Your device must run Android 8.1 or later, be a Matter-enabled Google hub device, have wifi, and have Bluetooth Low Energy (4.2) or above in order to use this function.

WearOS Spotify

Spotify is available on your wrist if your smartwatch is running Wear OS 2 or a later version. In addition to checking out new tiles and watch face shortcuts, you can listen to music and podcasts without having to take out your phone. Google is emphasizing that the watch can stream music via Spotify DJ, although this feature requires a Spotify Premium subscription and is only accessible in the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, and Ireland.

Google Keep notes on WearOS

You can now add a tile to Google Keep for Wear OS for quick access to a particular note or to-do list on your watch. To stay on top of things, simply swipe through your tiles to discover your pinned note (similar to a shopping list).

This is one of the new Android features that are simplest but most effective, as it offers you a shorter cut to access your Google Keep notes without using your smartphone.

Save Shorts to your YouTube playlists

YouTube added Shorts to compete with TikTok and bring a popular feature to increase the audience of the platform. Shorts has also received a new update, alongside other new Android features. From now on, users will be able to add Shorts to playlists, allowing them to watch and curate content over and over again.

You may now add one of these brief videos to a playlist if you find one you like, demonstrating that YouTube is treating this new content similar to its standard video content.

Dark web report for Gmail

Most Google Accounts in the United States can now access the Google One website and app’s “Dark Web Report” feature. You may do scans to determine whether your Gmail address has been made public on the dark web and get advice on the steps you can take to stay safe online. Members of Google One in the US can scan for more personal data, like their social security numbers. In the upcoming months, access will also be extended to more than 20 nations.
