Google Photos is set to launch a new AI feature called Wardrobe this summer, designed to create a digital closet for users’ clothing and jewelry.
This feature will scan users’ Google Photos libraries to identify and catalog clothing items by category, including tops, bottoms, and jewelry. Thumbnails will provide a visual reference for each piece of clothing, allowing users to mix and match items and create outfits.
Users can share these outfits with friends or save them to a digital moodboard. A try-on feature will also generate a photo of the user wearing selected items, similar to capabilities found in Google Shopping.
However, limitations exist. The AI may miss items not photographed, and users may see clothing they have donated or discarded still appearing in their catalog.
Google Photos Wardrobe will first be available to Android users, with iOS access coming later this summer.
