Amazon has announced a software update for the Kindle Colorsoft and Kindle Scribe Colorsoft that will introduce dark mode to both e-readers.
The update allows users to toggle specific menus between dark and light modes, enhancing user experience by providing customization options. This update addresses a feature that has been standard on other Kindle devices, indicating Amazon’s commitment to improving its e-reader offerings.
Additionally, the software update will introduce Smart Shapes to notebooks, enabling users to insert pre-drawn lines, arrows, circles, triangles, and rectangles from a toolbar. A new hold-to-snap tool will allow users to draw freehand shapes that automatically conform into neat designs, enhancing the overall note-taking experience.
The update is expected to roll out in the coming days, further empowering users of the Kindle Scribe Colorsoft to enhance their journaling and note-taking capabilities. Amazon is likely responding to competitive pressures as the Kindle Scribe has received critical feedback for lacking features compared to rival devices.
Cherlynn Low noted in a review that while the Kindle Scribe is competent as an e-reader, it falls short in several areas when compared to competitors, indicating the need for Amazon to bolster its features to remain competitive.
