Google has launched an AI-powered feature for Translate that assists users in correcting and practicing enunciation while learning new languages.
The pronunciation practice tool provides instant feedback on speech, allowing users to improve their skills before engaging in conversations. This feature aims to enhance language learning experiences and competes with similar offerings from platforms like Duolingo.
Currently, the pronunciation practice feature is available for Android users in the US and India, supporting English, Spanish, and Hindi. Google has not disclosed plans for expanding this feature to other regions or for iOS users.
The launch coincides with Google’s 20th anniversary celebrations of its translation service. According to the company, pronunciation practice is “one of our most requested features.”
Google Translate boasts over one billion monthly users, translating approximately one trillion words each month through its various platforms, including Translate, Search, Lens, and Circle to Search.
