This update aims to enhance user experience and address frustrations related to comment management. Users noted the feature during prior testing phases, and initial reactions have been positive. Some comments included “It’s about time” and jokes about its delayed introduction.
The editing functionality applies solely to text, meaning users cannot modify images in their comments. If a comment contains both text and a photo, only the wording can be adjusted.
In addition to the comment editing feature, Instagram announced updates to restrict certain content for teen accounts based on 13+ movie ratings. This measure comes amid increasing scrutiny over the platform’s effects on young users.
